Privacy Policy – JPScan

Effective date: July 2026
App: JPScan (com.jpscan.app)
Developer: Jalandhar

JPScan is a document scanner and PDF toolkit. Your documents are processed entirely on your device and are never uploaded by JPScan. The free version shows advertisements, and advertising requires some device data to be shared with Google — this policy explains exactly what and why.

Your documents stay on your device

Everything JPScan does to your files — scanning, compressing, merging, splitting, signing, watermarking, locking, and viewing — happens locally on your phone. Your documents are never transmitted to us or anyone else by JPScan. We have no servers and no access to your files. Results are saved to a folder you choose through Android’s system folder picker, visible in any file manager and fully under your control.

What the app stores locally

Scan history: a small local index (document titles, creation dates, and the folder location of each scan) in a private database on your device. Deleting a scan in the app deletes its files and its index entry. Uninstalling removes the index; files you saved to your chosen folder remain yours.

Settings: your theme preference, chosen save folder, a session counter, and — if you purchase Premium — a local record of your entitlement.

Advertising (free version)

The free version of JPScan shows advertisements served by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects and shares certain data with Google, which may include your device’s advertising ID, IP address, approximate location derived from it, device and network information, and ad interaction data (views, clicks). This data is handled by Google under Google’s Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy).

Where required by law (for example in the EEA and UK), JPScan shows a consent dialog before any ads are requested, and you can decline personalized advertising. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings at any time.

Your documents are never involved in advertising. Ads appear in the app’s interface only; file contents are not read, scanned, or shared for advertising purposes — or any other purpose.

JPScan Premium removes all advertising. With Premium active, no ad requests are made and no advertising data is shared from the app.

Purchases

Premium is sold through Google Play’s billing system. Payment is processed entirely by Google Play; JPScan never sees your payment details. Google provides us only the information needed to recognize your entitlement (which product you own). Subscriptions can be managed or cancelled anytime in the Play Store app under Subscriptions.

Permissions the app uses

Camera — used only while scanning documents through Google’s on-device ML Kit document scanner, which runs inside Google Play services. No photos are captured without your action, and captures are processed on the device.

Internet — used by the advertising SDK (free version) and by Google Play services. JPScan itself does not upload your documents over this connection.

Storage (legacy Android versions only) — historical permissions declared for old Android versions; on modern Android, access is only through the folder you explicitly pick via the system picker.

Third-party services

  • Google ML Kit document scanner — on-device scanning, delivered through Google Play services.
  • Google AdMob (free version) — advertising, as described above.
  • Google Play Billing — purchases, as described above.

JPScan contains no analytics SDKs and no crash-reporting SDKs, and we do not build user profiles.

Children

JPScan is a general-audience utility. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children; advertising is configured through Google’s standard mechanisms, which honor applicable children’s privacy requirements.

Security

Because your files never leave your device, their security is the security of your device and of the folder you save them to. Files locked with the Lock PDF tool are encrypted with a password only you know; JPScan cannot recover a lost password — no copy of it exists anywhere.

Your choices and control

Use Premium for a fully ad-free experience; decline personalized ads where the consent dialog is offered; reset your advertising ID in Android settings; choose and change your save folder at any time; and delete your files in-app or with any file manager. Clearing the app’s data or uninstalling removes all settings and the local scan index.

Changes to this policy

If a future version changes what the app does with data, this policy will be updated before that version ships, with a revised effective date and a note in the app’s update notes.
